Well done to Mr Allen and Miss Pedley, and Ellie and Jenny in 7S - our winning teams in the Euro Quiz we held in the OLC to celebrate Europe Day on 9 May. You all seem to know a huge amount of fantastic trivia about: flags, maps, football teams and Eurovision!
Quizes take place in Year 7 & 8 lunchtimes, join in on your own or as part of a team, win prizes! Keep an eye out for more quizes taking place in the OLC later in the year - adverts will be on posters in the OLC and on the plasma screens around school. |
BOX TOPS for BOOKS A massive thank you to everyone who sent in Box Tops for Books vouchers to us! We ended up with a grand total of 319 vouchers to spend on books for the OLC.
Our Year 7 OLC helpers had great fun choosing some fantastic books to buy for you and can't wait for them to turn up so they can unpack them.
Next year, lets aim for even more vouchers... could we make it to 1000? |

CONCORDE BOOK AWARD Last year, the SBL book reviewers read some fantastic books that were short-listed for the South Glos Concorde Book Award. Plus, their brilliant reviewing skills won them the Best Bloggers prize at the award ceremony and £60 to spend on books for the OLC.
Our reviewers have been busy reading and blogging again this year! On World Book Day we voted for our favourite book of the short-listed five. Sally Nicholls' book Ways to Live Forever was a clear winner for students at SBL. We'll find out the winning bloggers and the favourite book for the whole of South Glos at the Concorde Book Award Ceremony at the end of March. |
YPIP - YOUNG PERSONS' INFORMATION POINT The new SBL YPIP was launched at the end of term and is now open in the OLC. It's been designed by a group of Year 9s, who have worked with Connexions to put together a collection of information especially for you.
You'll find leaflets, books and prospectuses to help you with all sorts of stuff you need to help you organise your life: money, study, health, safety, work, relationships. Plus, click on the YPIP button here or on the OLC homepage to take a look at handy links for all sorts of information on the YPIP pages of the OLC Delicious account... |
