The OLC is open Monday to Friday for you to use as a quiet space for reading, research, homework, and for working online.
The space is open most days from 8am before school until 5.00pm after school. This includes morning break and lunchtimes (unless there are lessons booked in the OLC).
Online Learning Centre Opening Times from September 2009 Monday 8.00am until 5.00pm
The OLC may be closed at times so please check the door for notices. |
Students
For lunch and breaktime computer access, booking is recommended if you want to be sure a computer (including the Mac) is available for you. Otherwise come into the OLC and sign up using the OLC Computer Sheet under the whiteboard.
No booking required if you want to borrow books or use the quiet study area.
If you want to come unaccompanied during lesson times or registration, you need to bring written authorisation from your Teacher / Tutor.
Teachers
If you would like to book a lesson in the OLC please contact the Cover Team.
If your timetabled lesson will not be taking place in the OLC, please inform the OLC Team so we can offer it to another Class.
Every student is allowed to borrow a total of 7 items. You may borrow up to 3 fiction books, 3 non-fiction books and 1 DVD.
All books are loaned to you for 3 weeks - after this time, they must be returned to the OLC. We can then usually arrange to let you renew the books so that you can keep them longer (if they haven't already been reserved by someone else).
Put your returned book in the box by the door or come to the OLC desk to renew.
You may borrow a DVD for 3 days only. These MUST be returned to the OLC desk and not put in the returns box. They must come back on time - if you don't return them on time, you will not be allowed to borrow DVDs again that term. Check you've got all the DVDs in the case!
You are responsible for the safe return of everything you borrow. Take good care of books and DVDs - make sure you know where they are, don't leave them lying around school, don't leave them in the tutor group book box, don't lend them to other people, don't let the dog eat them! We understand, though, that accidents do sometimes happen.
We will send you reminders about overdue books and you may be asked to pay for a replacement copy of all items that you have borrowed that aren't returned to us!
