Summer Success - Finance Academy Internships!
Date:Monday 22nd September 2008

Our Finance Academy students have returned to Year 13 with another glowing success to add to their personal CVs!  The six week internship has produced some impressive employer feedback.  The Royal Bank of Scotland commented that the maturity displayed was a credit to our schools.  The Managing Director of Champagne Weddings said it was a pleasure to work with their student and having someone so committed has made the whole experience enjoyable for everyone!  The Institute of Financial Planning was very impressed with how their student adapted to being in an office environment, his keenness, ability to get on with the task in hand and the fact that he was not afraid to ask questions!  QTAC Payroll Services reported that they would definitely like to employ their student (something that all of the internship companies mentioned!) and that a number of real business decisions were based on the research carried out by him.  The Chief Executive and Marketing Director of S&B Automotive Academy were so pleased that they asked their student to stay on for an extra two weeks!

The Kingswood Partnership Finance Academy is now in its second year and once again we will be running an exciting and challenging Enrichment and Employability Skills course.  This is the centre piece of the Finance Academy which is a level 3 work-based programme.

Our new Year 12 students have already made a start on some of the challenges and activities they will face throughout the year.  Currently they are action planning to raise funds for a First Aid course they will all go through in November and on 24 September they will be visiting the IFP for a careers workshop.  Meanwhile Year 13 have already taken part in a workshop on gaol-setting run by a business psychologist and will be visiting the University of the West of England to get the “low-down” firsthand on what makes a successful university application.

So it’s full steam ahead for a busy and high quality learning experience this year!
