DAVID TURRELL, CBE
We are very proud that our Executive Headteacher has today attended his investiture at Windsor Castle to be awarded a CBE. The work is in recognition of the contribution he has made to education, at The Sir Bernard Lovell School, on behalf of the Kingswood Partnership, and for his innovative work nationally. In 2003, Ofsted judged him as ‘Outstanding Headteacher’ and, in 2009, Ofsted judged the Kingswood Partnership as ‘Overall Outstanding’.
David has been the Headteacher for 15 years. He has chaired the Kingswood Partnership for eight years and has advised Government Ministers on curriculum reform qualifications. David has been an Expert Headteacher for BECTA and has managed several international networks. His leadership has supported the national reform of the curriculum and is a national speaker on 14-19 education. He has worked to develop a curriculum suitable for all students which is more relevant to the skills and competencies students will need for the future whilst maintaining the values implicit in good schools.
"We would like to add our congratulations to our Headteacher on his investiture today at Windsor Castle for his CBE. We are proud of David’s contribution to education locally and nationally. He continues, with the staff of the school, to improve the quality of education for the young people at The Sir Bernard Lovell School and in The Kingswood Partnership. We hope he has an enjoyable day." Jean Spriggs, Chair (on behalf of the Governing Body)
