School Governors

The Governing Body of the Sir Bernard Lovell School supports the school and its staff and parents by working at a strategic level to ensure the continued improvement of the school and the outcomes for its pupils.

The full governing body meets six times per year and consists of twenty Governors, made up of parents, staff, community and local education authority (LEA) governors. There are a number of sub-committees covering, curriculum, personnel and student welfare, finance, premises, health and safety. Each of these meet six times per year to work at a more detailed level with the Headteacher and other staff.

Governors also support the school by visiting staff and lessons to learn more about various aspects of the work of the school. Each Governor is linked to a subject area and meets periodically to understand the work being carried out in that area. In addition, Governors attend a variety of school events including open evenings, music productions and celebration evenings.
