The world is divided into magical and non-magical lands, separated by The Wall. A young boy named Tristan vows to his love that he will cross The Wall and catch a falling star to prove how he feels - only to find that the star has transformed into a young woman called Yvaine.
Together they begin a journey through the magical land back to The Wall - but there are more who are searching for the star for less noble reasons. These include the evil witch queen Lamia, who needs Yvaine’s heart to become beautiful, and the seven princes of Stormhold who need her to become king.
Will Tristan be able to keep her safe, and will Yvaine be able to experience true love?
