Student support

Support for every student is the hallmark of the Post-16 Centre. Going from GCSE to Post 16, and then from Post 16 to university or the world of work, requires supportive guidance. Every student will have a designated tutor who will guide and encourage students through their studies. Academic tutoring is an integral part of the student support programme. Students will meet with their tutors in a one to one or small group interview at least once a month to discuss their progress. Tutors offer advice, guidance and pastoral support helping students to manage their own learning and Post 16 experience.

The encouragement, advice and support that tutors can offer is central to the strong, positive relationships that students build up with their tutor and is a very significant contributory factor to academic success.

Academic progress is regularly and carefully monitored and the results of this are discussed with each individual student in order to ensure that target grades are being met. Parents are also directly involved in this progress through reports, a progress review meeting in term 2 and a subject review in term 4.
