Young people are increasingly required to make complex decisions about their future at an earlier age than ever before. Work-related learning and opportunities for students to think about and plan for the future take place throughout the school.
In Years 10 and 11 the emphasis for students has been on investigating and making good Post 16 choices as well as developing individual employability skills. The school has been working hard to ensure that all students get access to the information and support that will help them make effective choices for the future. There is a comprehensive programme of Careers Education and IAG in place that gives students the chance to fully explore possible Post 16 options choices.
In Post 16 the school attempts to ensure that all students are supported to achieve their goals, whether this is progressing into higher education, or employment and training. So that students have the greatest chance to personalise their experience of the IAG programmes that are available, the school makes sure that all relevant information is readily accessible to both students and parents - on the school IT network, on the Kingswood Partnership learning platform, from the Kingswood Partnership website (www.kingswoodpartnership.org.uk) and from the Connexions young person’s information point.
Students and parents are strongly recommended to make use of the recently introduced Kingswood Partnership IAG website - this provides access to a wide range of current information, help and advice about all aspects of work, education and future planning. This resource is becoming increasingly seen as a key element of our IAG programmes at all levels.
The school’s IAG and Work Experience Co-ordinators work closely with Post 16 Tutors and with the Connexions service. All students can arrange guidanceinterviews with the school’s Connexions Personal Adviser.
"The encouragement, advice and support that tutors can offer is central to the strong, positive relationships that students build up with their tutor and is a very significant contributory factor to academic success"
