In Years 10 and 11 we study four units.
This course brings you the best of British and World History. In Year 12 we look at how the British people and ordinary soldiers were affected by the major wars from 1854 to the First World War.
We also study how Germany changed from the end of the First World War to the fall of the Berlin Wall. This includes the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler. In Year 13 we look at the way the USA changed as a result of immigration, crime, the Depression, the Second World War and the beginning of the Cold War. We do two pieces of coursework on the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Unit 1. From Second Reich to Third Reich: Germany 1918-1945. Germany divided and reunited, 1945-1991.
Unit 2. The Experience of Warfare in Britain: Crimea, Boer and the First World War, 1854-1929.
Unit 3. The United States, 1917-1954: Boom, bust and recovery.
Unit 4. Historical enquiry. The Arab-Israeli Conflict.
